Ritual Inventory is our periodic audit of pallets, loads and storage conditions. It is conducted daily, weekly or monthly depending on throughput and mood. It looks like an inspection but feels like confession.
Objectives
- Verify that pallets in circulation conform to The Standard.
- Confirm that loads are properly stacked and secured.
- Identify pallets approaching end‑of‑life due to wear, moisture or existential dread.
- Remove non‑compliant pallets from service and document their disposition (funeral rites optional).
Methodology
- Schedule – Establish a recurring interval for inventory. Mark it on your calendar with glitter.
- Inspection – Inspect each pallet for dimensions, structural integrity and cleanliness. Smell the wood. Listen for creaks.
- Load Audit – Review documentation for current loads. Verify that load limits are observed and stacking is proper. Use the tilt test if you feel daring.
- Recording – Update inventory records with findings and any corrective actions taken. The ledger is sacred.
Ritual Inventory is not symbolic. It maintains the physical integrity of the load‑bearing system. Its regularity gives it the appearance of ritual; its purpose is compliance and mental health.
